Fen rivals get the better of Littleport
NMC Division 1B
Littleport Town missed the opportunity to put pressure on the top four sides as they lost 3-1 to Fen rivals Manea United on Saturday.
The defeat sees Port slip to ninth place in the table.
There was no such trouble for Bottisham and Lode, however, as they thrashed Milton Reserves, 5-0, despite being reduced to 10 men.
There were five different names on the score sheet for Lode, with Nehemiah Ellis, Kentoth Gray, Stuart Hodgson, Hall Moss and Michael Palmer all netting. Ellis was given his marching orders for a second yellow card.
Elsewhere, Burwell Swifts beat Chatteris Town Reserves, 4-1, to stay joint top.
Kershaw Senior A
Ely City steadied the ship with a 1-1 draw against Girton United at the Unwin Ground on Saturday. The point keeps the Robins second string in 10th place.
Kershaw Senior B
Witchford 96’s hopes of winning the league suffered a hammer blow on Saturday as they lost out in a nine-goal thriller at Witchford Village College.
Opponents Sawston Rovers scored three in the first half before adding a fourth in the 48th minute and a deciding goal 10 minutes from time.
Witchford slipped to third place, some 12 points behind leaders Somersham Town.
NMC Division 2B
It was all good day all round for Sutton United as they earned three points and kept a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Cottenham Unites Reserves.
Chris Hall, Matthew Keys and Russell Mansfield were all on target for United, with substitute Lee Taylor adding a fourth.
It was a difficult afternoon for Mepal Sports, however, as they were beaten 2-0 by league leaders Exning Athletic.
Fordham were awarded all three points as hosts West Row Gunners Reserves were unable to raise a team.
Two goals from Andy-Drew Brown helped Isleham United to a 2-2 draw at Elsworth Sports.
NMC Division 3B
Little Downham Swifts lost valuable ground on the league’s top two sides as they went down 1-0 to Bar Hill Saturday Reserves.
Swifts remain third in the league but are now eight points behind leaders Red Lodge, albeit with a game in hand.
The momentum behind Stretham Hotspurs push for the top spot continued to falter on Saturday as they went down 3-0 to Red Lodge.
NMC Division 4B
Ely Crusaders bid for title glory was boosted on Saturday as they squeaked a 2-1 win at promotion rivals Waterbeach.
Albert Obiero was on target for the hosts but ever-reliable duo Scott Fuller and Scott Dews struck back to give Crus the win. Ely sit 12 points clear of their rivals at the top of the table.
Joseph Murfitt struck twice as Littleport Town Reserves overcame Earith United at the leisure centre ground.
Tom Wright’s goal proved to be no more than a consolation for United as Port took all three points and moved within a point of the top half of the table.
Haddenham Rovers lost 3-1 at Wisbech St Mary B, despite the hosts being reduced to 10 men.
Thomas Diggines were shown a straight red card for Wisbech but it wasn’t enough to inspire Haddenham back into the match as goals from Billy Fowler, Jack Mockford and Wayne Morton wrapped up the points.
