SOHAM'S deadly strike-force proved decisive again as Charles Libam laid on two goals for Andy Furnell to secure Rangers' first win of 2007.
The hosts had the better of the early exchanges, during which they hit the post and twice narrowly missed the target, but when Matt Robinson moved into central midfield, Soham took control.
A stunning effort from Furnell gave Rangers the lead in the 37th minute. A fluent passing move was finished with Libam laying the ball off to Furnell, who delicately chipped the ball over the keeper from the edge of the box.
King's Lynn relied on their impressive keeper, Duncan McAnally, to pull off a string of fine saves to keep them in the match in the second half.
A superb double save kept out Keke St Hilaire mid-way through the half before Libam and Michael Simpson tested the stopper's reflexes.
Libam thought he had doubled Soham's lead when he netted from two yards after a Simpson cross, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Soham's well-organised defence gave the team confidence to attack at will, and the win was wrapped up in the final minute. Libam's perfect cross-field pass put Furnell in on goal and the striker moved into the penalty area before confidently smashing the ball home, to take his tally for the season to 25.
Soham boss Ian Benjamin said: "It was great to see Andy Furnell back to his best. He's been a bit off the pace lately because he's been unwell and had a bit of a niggling groin injury. His first goal was as good a goal as I've ever seen him score.
"It was a good return to form for the team. It's been coming, because we've been playing well, just not getting results.
