CAMBS FA CENTENARY CUP SEMI-FINAL
LTFC 1906 marked their inaugural season with a cup final appearance after scoring three second-half goals to see off Bassingbourn Sunday in the semi-final.
Nathan Bennett scored twice, and he was joined on the scoresheet by Robert Scotney as the hosts ran out convincing winners.
DIVISION 4A leaders Wilburton Albion dropped their first points of the campaign in the home clash with Fox Burwell.
Simon Jones tapped home Wilburton's equaliser after a mistake by the visiting goalkeeper, and Will Ludbrooke burst through to make it 2-1.
Burwell's keeper atoned for his earlier mistake by producing a marvellous one-handed save from Mark Smith's volley while, at the other end, Burwell struck again to make it 2-2 at the break.
Mel Pryer beat two defenders before rifling home to restore Wilburton's advantage, only for Burwell to equalise again with what proved to be the last kick of the game.
In the same section, Wicken Maids Head crashed 3-0 at home to Alma Reserves, and in Division 3A there was a 7-2 setback for Little Downham United in their match at Newmarket Albion Reserves.
Triple-S went down by the odd goal in five at Fen Ditton in the Senior Division, but there was better news for the two Ely Park Rangers teams in Divisions 1A and 2A.
The first team beat Girton Eagles 1-0 thanks to a 15th-minute goal from Jamie Gayfer, while in Division 2A the Reserves maintained their 100 per cent record with a 2-0 win at QPR Ely.
Lee Follen's first-half save prevented Rangers from going a goal down and shortly afterwards Steve Pollard nodded home to make it 1-0.
Erhan Okay broke clear and squared for Mark Angier to score Ely's second, and that was sufficient to clinch the points.
