RIDGEONS PREMIER DIVISION

Soham Town Rangers 3 Woodbridge Town 2

SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Steve Bell came off the bench to score the winner with his first touch and end Soham's recent run of bad form.

Bell came on after 76 minutes, picked up a Steve Bugg through ball and cooly slotted it under the keeper.

The first goal came after 27 minutes when Bugg rounded the keeper and finished after running on to a Andy Furnell pass. Woodbridge equalised three minutes later.

Soham then took the lead against the run of play, eight minutes before half time, when Andy Furnell powered home a header into the top corner from a Matt Robinson cross. Woodbridge levelled the scores again just before half time.

Soham manager Ian Benjamin then threw on Bell for the final quarter in the hope his pace would trouble the tired Woodbridge defenders. Benjamin can't have thought his impact would be quite so dramatic as he ran finished with his first touch from close range.

Benjamin said of Bell: "He's a great prospect, but he's a young lad who still has a lot to learn. We have to make sure we use him at the right times." Leaders AFC Sudbury come to Julius Martin Lane on Saturday.
