RIDGEONS LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION

Ely City 1 March Town United 1

STEVE Taylor says his side need to win 11 of their last 19 games to guarantee promotion.

The Ely City joint-manager has set his troops the target as they move into the second half of the season in fourth position, just outside the promotion places.

March had taken the lead with a fine strike from Daniel Moyes after 20 minutes to open the scoring.

Stephen Spriggs got the equaliser from the penalty spot on 25 minutes, after Steve Tuck was fouled in the area.

Both sides had further chances in a bad-tempered affair which saw March manager Steve Wilson sent from the dugout in the second half for dissent.

"March aren't a bad side and I think their league position is false. They're a young side, who scored a good goal and a draw was probably a fair result," said Taylor.

Taylor now wants his team to press on and secure the promotion which their form throughout the first half of the season has merited.

"We've got 19 games left and I would say we need to win 11," he said.

"We can wrap promotion up by March if we put our foot on the gas.

"We've got 12 games left at home and only seven away, so we need to make the best out of our home advantage."

Andy Chatters and Simon Warren, who

both missed the March game through

suspension, will again be unavailable for the visit of Stowmarket to the Unwin Ground on Saturday.

Robbie Mason, however, should be fit to start after recovering from a dislocated shoulder.

"Stowmarket are a physical side who beat us earlier in the season so we know what to expect."

* Ely's match at Godmanchester Rovers on December 27 was called off because of snow.
