MILDENHALL gave themselves a confidence boost ahead of their FA Vase fourth round clash with Dorking on Saturday with a win at high-flying Ipswich Wanderers.

Neal Docking's header from a Ricky Cornish cross in the 55th minute was enough to give Trevor Munns' side the points ahead of their visit to Surrey, as 'Hall posted their first league win of the new year.

Andy Eady and Paul Miles performed well at the heart of 'Hall's defence as they kept Wanderers' opportunities to a minimum.

There was also another encouraging showing from midfielder Danny Cornwall, signed from Bury Town last week, and Tom Pell was another to shine in attack.

Munns said: "We played well. We defended well, worked hard in midfield and looked sharp in attack - it was a good win for us ahead of the match on Saturday.

"I've spoken to a couple of people about Dorking and had them watched once. We'll give them the same respect we gave Didcot in the last round and if it means we have to face a replay against them on Tuesday, so be it."

Miles is cup-tied for the game, while Owen Paynter and Lee Summerscales miss out with ankle problems. John Darby is back in contention, however, after recovering from a groin operation.
