ELY City joint-manager Steve Taylor saw his side drop more points against a team in the relegation zone as Ely's promotion push faltered.

The Robins have now dropped eight points against teams in the bottom three. Taylor wants his team to get the winning feeling back again after two successive draws.

He said: "It's disappointing. We've found it difficult with the players we've had missing. If we hadn't of dropped those points we'd be four points clear at the top.

An Ely team shorn of the suspended pair of Andy Chatters and Simon Warren, as well as the injured group of Ashley Taylor, Tony Brown, Gary Dewsbury and Graham Retallick, found it difficult to create chances in a poor first half.

The only action of note was the controversial Stowmarket penalty, mid-way through the half.

Dean Blackman was adjudged to have brought down his opponent in the box, although it looked as though the foul had taken place outside the box. The spot-kick was coolly converted.

Ely had penalty appeals of their own waved away when Peter Munns was fouled in the second half, but an improved display after the break got the equaliser it deserved on 72 minutes.

Steve Pollard made no mistake at the back post after being found by another substitute, Arry Scarborough.

Taylor added: "I know this team is good enough to go up but do the players believe it? It's a test of character now for the players and for those of us on the management team.
