A YOUNG motorbike racer from Little Downham is making waves across her sport in the midst of her first season in a prestigious racing championship.

Following sweeping success in last year's Superteen Challenge, 17 year-old Stephanie 'Flossy' Waddelow, has made the step up to The Triumph Triple Challenge (TTC) series where she is battling it out with highly experienced campaigners, some twice her age.

But, despite her tender years, Stephanie has taken to her task with startling ease and has even managed a top ten placing in one of her very first races.

Stephanie's mother Debbie, said: "She is definitely enjoying taking part, her dream is to make it into Moto GP so it's great that she has had the opportunity to take another step closer to that this year."

Stephanie, who is studying for her A levels at the City of Ely College was given the opportunity to ride in the TTC at the start of the season after winning the Superteen championships at a canter last year. The Daytona 675 bike she is riding this year though is an altogether different machine than her previous bikes and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 156mph.

Despite the blistering speeds however, Mrs Waddelow insists she is not worried when she sees Stephanie out on the track, "In the first race I went to see this year she had a couple of crashes but she just seemed to bounce right back up so I'm definitely not so worried now as I used to be."

To help her continue to ride in the TTC this year and beyond, Stephanie is looking for sponsors to help her out. Anyone interested in supporting Stephanie should contact the Ely Standard.
