ELY travelled to Peterborough this week hoping for an away victory to consolidate their position in the league, but a slow, scrappy start to the game allowed Peterborough to put them under pressure almost immediately.

Shortly before half-time, however, Ely fought back and Dani Fletcher opened the scoring to steady the team's composure.

Good teamwork and individual skill maintained Ely's advantage in the second half, and an increase in work rate rewarded them with a second goal through Gemma Voutt.

Although Ely were the better team overall, they were frustrated at times as Peterborough kept possession well. Nevertheless, improved passing accuracy and communication enabled the hosts to run out 2-0 winners.

Ely: Laura Tuck (GK), Cathy Gilmour, Fiona Bartley, Holly Radcliffe, Pamela Clarke (Captain), Emily Kisby, Dani Fletcher, Gemma Voutt, Ali Chapman, Chanre Bond, Jo Rayner, Megan Radcliffe.

ELY were slow out of the blocks in this match with the game and the ball predominantly trapped in midfield, and when the had possession Long Sutton packed all 11 players behind the game line.

However, right back Feroze Abbas - in a rare foray into the Long Sutton D - managed to draw the keeper before deftly slipping the ball to leading scorer Tommy Hugo who finished with his usual clinical aplomb.

In the second half Ely increased the pace and authoritatively dominated both possession and territory.

Reward finally came when the energetic Stuart Clarke passed to Edward Hugo who expertly slotted the ball pass the Long Sutton keeper to make it 2-0.

Ely managed to bag a third before the final whistle, with Joel Gilmour's short corner flick finding the bottom right corner.
