Fine end to season for Kumar

ELY’S Flavia Kumar has ended the athletics competition season in fine style by adding two more medals to her collection.

She won bronze in the under-20 women’s pentathlon at the Eastern Region Championships and was awarded the gold medal for Cambridgeshire. Pentathlon requires athletes to compete in high jump, long jump, 800m, 100m hurdles and shot put.

Flavia improved personal best performances in both the 800 metres and high jump – crossing the line after two laps in 2mins 41secs and clearing the high jump bar at 1m 40cm.

She competes for Cambridge and Coleridge AC and has been actively involved in the establishment of East Cambridgeshire Athletics Clubs which meets at King’s Ely where she is a Year 13 student.

She is studying A-levels in biology, physical education and photography and has been appointed captain of the girls’ hockey, netball and rounders teams for this academic year.
