Athletics King’s Ely athlete Hollie Parker has been selected to run for England after winning the silver medal at the English Athletics Age Group Championships in Sheffield on Saturday.

Following on from finishing first in the Cambridgeshire Schools’ Cross Country Championships and fourth in the British Athletics Grand Prix, the Year 12 athlete, aged 17, has recorded the fastest 1,500m time so far for the U20 age group, at 4mins 35secs, despite being one of the youngest runners in the age group.

After Saturday’s success at the nationals, Hollie will compete for England at the U20 internationals in Cardiff this weekend.

Richard Powell, Head of Athletics at King’s Ely, said: “Hollie is gaining in confidence all the time, which, allied to her ability and dedication, has resulted in improved times and consistently impressive performances.”
