ON a windy Sunday the Ely Tiger-16s played Swaffham away. It was to a game reliant on the forwards as the pitch had suffered from heavy downpour.

Ely immediately appeared to be the stronger team in rucks and mauls and this early aggression paid of when Rory Martin

scored a try. A brilliant kick by Chris Hobson secured a 5-metre line-out. The ball was knocked back by Swaffham and Dan Redford dived on it to score. Swaffham broke through and scored early in the second half but excellent rucking was followed by a well-practised backs move to put Jerome Scott-Paul in for a try.

The final try of the match was scored by Louis Jenkins for a comfortable Tigers' 25-6 victory.

Man of the Match: Freddy Steele.

TORRENTIAL overnight rain and a blustery wind produced some difficult playing conditions at Shelford for the Tiger-14s. Shelford kicked off and with a strong wind behind them opened the score with a try in the corner. Ely flanker Hayden Ship broke through the first line defence and slipped a well timed pass to Charlie Coupland who brought the scores level after 10 minutes but Shelford used the wind and scored two further tries before half time, taking a 19-5 advantage. From the restart Ely attacked the Shelford line and Charlie Coupland scored his second try from a -metre scrum. From the kick-off the Ely forwards made ground

and setting lock Dan Brown free for a 30-metre sprint for a try, which Joe Coyle converted.

In the closing minutes, Shelford worked two good openings for their backs to run in tries, giving them a hard won

success.
