The Ely under-13s may have wished for a cancellation as they were given a lesson in ball handling and support play from one of the finest teams they will encounter.

Cambridge have beaten Saracens, Northampton and Ipswich this year and their physically dominant squad played faultless rugby for 50 minutes as Ely missed too many tackles and allowed Cambridge to build momentum.

The game was one sided throughout but in fairness to Ely they did not give up. The Ely pack scrummaged well but

Cambridge prevented the ball getting down to Ely's quicker players.

Ely began to hold their own as the game progressed but were never going to

recover from a large first half deficit and Cambridge won well by

about 70 points.

The Tiger-14s had great hopes also against Cambridge after last week's

performance against Shelford but despite the equality in the

opposition over the two weeks, the Tiger-14s could not make any progress,

going down 52-5 with the Cambridge midfield causing the damage. Ely's

lone try came from prop Aaron Payne.
