The City of Ely Swimming Club won the Richard Shaw Memorial Trophy on Saturday.

Ely competed in a series of disciplines against swimmers from March Marlins A and B, Chatteris Kingfishers and Huntingdon Piranhas.

Of the 44 races held, Ely picked up wins in 22, earning them a haul of 172 points. In second place was March A with 146 points. The highlight of the night was Ely’s win in the final race, the 25m relay in which 10 members helped them to victory in a time of 2mins 55seconds.

Coach Elaine Hil said: “The team were awesome on Saturday night. Every swimmer swam hard and the fly relay was brilliant, everyone’s hard work in training paid off.”
