Ely City Men maintained their perfect start to the season by thrashing Cambridge University 3 5-0.
A hattrick from Grimshaw and a goal apiece from Warren and Tavenor sealed the win, and Ely’s three wins from three now puts them at the top of the East Men’s League 3NW.
Ely II, however, have endured a less fruitful start, and are second from bottom in Division 4NW after going down 3-2 to St. Ives.
ELsewhere, the men’s third team continue to struggle following a 5-0 defeat to St. Neots 4 in Division 6NW.
Ely ladies, after their first win for a year last week, tasted defeat again as they were beaten 3-1 by Bourne Deeping 3.
Ely ladies second team experienced a more successful afternoon with a 10-1 rout over Cambridge City 5.
Also in Division 4NW(S), Ely ladies III were trounced 6-0 by Cambridge City 4, which leaves them sitting precariously in 13th place in the league.
