Ely 3rd XV beat Sawston 30-3 in wet and windy conditions.

The visitors had no front row, so the match was played with uncontested scrums.

Sawston took the lead with an early penalty, but Reece Hurst scored his first Tigers try after a good interchange of passes between Joel Scott-Paul and Gavin Ross.

Hard-working Chris Day added another try for Ely before the interval, and Scott-Paul wrapped up a 13-3 lead with a penalty in front of the posts.

Jez Latham went over the line to increase Ely's lead in the second half, and Scott-Paul converted to make it 20-3.

Ross and Jimmy Gilborn then added further well-worked tries to make the final score 30-3.

Lewis Jenkins, Dave Ballard and Ross were the pick of Ely's team.

Captain Ben Brownlie said: "We played a tough game with passion and desire.
