Ely II 55 Saffron Walden II 5

ELY seconds travelled to Saffron Walden on Sunday for this friendly match, and scored after only six minutes when James Dening scored the first try.

He then went under the posts for his second as Ely established an early lead.

The next 20 minutes saw some sublime play from Ely and Adam Kendall went over after 10 phases of interplay from the forwards and the backs.

Ely then went to sleep and Walden scored their only try of the game, but this shocked the hosts back into action and Jacko Snyman responded by scoring again.

This was rapidly followed by a Richard Nelson try, powering over from 10 yards through a startled defence to end the half.

The pace from Ely was relentless after the break, and although Walden tried hard enough more penalties were conceded and tries from Joel Scott-Paul, Mark Egerton and Richard Nelson took Ely's full time score to 55.

Team: Adrian Storey, Jason Andrews, Dave Ballard, Kev Groom, Alex Hart, , Richard Nelson, Adam Kendall, James Dening, Jacko Snyman, Matt Daybell, Joel Scott-Paul, Mark Egerton, Magnus Woodroffe (c), Scott Rowbotham, Pete Vousden, Tim Evans, Dave Walker
