ELY Sailing Club held an open meeting on Sunday (May 4) for enterprise sailing dinghies. Boats from the Eastern and Norfolk Broads competed at the event.

There was a steady Force 2-3 breeze across the pit. Race One was won by Andy Shipp, crewed by Georgina Parkin, from Hunts sailing club, followed by Phil and Laura Bevan from Grafham Water sailing club. Neil Parsloe, crewed by Siobhan Ladyman, came third.

The wind speed had increased for the second race which was won by Parsloe and Ladyman. Second was Shipp and Parkin with Phil and Laura Bevan third.

The wind dropped off for Race Three where there was moment of pandemonium on the approach to buoy one when half the fleet erroneously approached the mark to port whilst the other half came in on starboard. The race was won by Parsloe and Ladyman, second were Shipp and Parkin with Phil and Laura Bevan third.

Results: 1 Neil Parsloe and Siobhan Ladyman, Broadwater SC (2pts), 2 Andy Shipp and Georgina Parkin, Hunts SC (3pts), 3 Phil and Laura Bevan, Grafham SC (5pts).

Best placed Ely boat was last year's winner John Wells, crewed by Eliot Harlow, in seventh place.
