THE new commodore of Ely Sailing Club Alan White presented his predecessor Claire Christan with the club's brass clock and thanked her for her two years of leadership on Sunday.

The club were holding its Christmas Lunch, Mr White's first function at the helm, and he is looking forward to taking the club into its 61st year.

During Mrs Christian's two years, the club has expanded the training centre, seen a vast increase in young members, and a change of landlord.

Ely Mayor John Ison presented Mrs Christan with a bouquet of flowers.
