THERE was yet more frustration for Ely City as overnight snow forced the postponement of their crucial match with Haverhill Rovers.

The decision was made mid-morning on Friday following a deluge of up to five centimetres of snow on Thursday evening that put paid to any lingering hopes of the match going ahead.

Robins' boss Denis Lightning said, "Although the sun today cleared away most of the snow, it only really served to make an already damp pitch completely water-logged so there was no choice for Haverhill but call it off.

"We have also take the decision to call off out reserve and A team game's tomorrow because our pitch just isn't up to it either."

Weather permitting Ely's next game will be on Tuesday of next week when they play host to Soham in the much anticipated Cambs Cup derby.
