ELY City golfer Ann Russell scooped her first trophy at county level with victory at Cromwell Golf Club near Huntingdon.

Warm sunny conditions greeted the competitors in the Cambs and Hunts Division 3 meeting held at Cromwell Golf Club.

Despite the recent heavy rain, the course was in remarkably good condition and St Neots Sandra Patmore found the conditions much to her liking as she put together an excellent round of golf to claim the Long Handicap Cup with a score of 35 pts. Second spot went to last year’s winner Pam Fyfe (Ely City) with 33 pts with Ely City member Binnie Bridgeman in third place with 32 pts.

In the high handicappers section, Russell took the trophy with 31 points, with Judith Casey (St Ives) second with 28 pts.
