Hockey Ely City Ladies 0 Long Sutton 3
Ely slipped to a disappointing defeat to Long Sutton at the Downham Road ground, on Saturday.
In a promising start to the match, Ely moved quickly through the gears and put pressure on the visitor’s goal.
But they found the Sutton keeper in inspired form, and their attacks were denied.
A slip in concentration at the other end of the pitch saw Ely go in at half-time, 2-0 down.
Long Sutton moved into the ascendancy in the second half and restricted Ely’s attacks. The high0flyers were able to extend their lead by a further goal following a one-on-one with keeper, Kat Bamber. Pam Clarke was player of the match.
Ely slip to second bottom of the league with defeat. They return to action on Saturday, when they travel to City of Peterborough.
