STEPHEN Locke from Ely has qualified for an Audi Quattro Cup UK Regional Final - a prestigious worldwide event for amateur golfers.

Stephen is one of four golfers from the region who took part in the Gog Magog Golf Club even last week.

Gary Boswell from Cambridge, Barry Peak from Harston near Cambridge, Rupert McCallum from Little Weltenham near Bury St Edmunds, and Ely's Locke were among nearly 40 amateur golfers who contested the 18-hole event.

Boswell won with a score of 42 points with Peak, McCallum and Locke behind on 37pts, 36pts and 35pts respectively under the Stableford rules matches.

Stephen, 59, will pair up with Rupert McCallum, 41, in a Regional Final in July or August, hoping to qualify for the UK Final at Bovey Castle, Dartmoor National Park, Devon on September 3.

The Audi Quattro UK Cup - held since 1991 - is one of the world's largest amateur golf competitions, with over 75,000 players from more than 30 countries competing for a place in the World Final.
