ALAN Newark stormed through strong winds to record a hugely impressive time of 30:22, the fastest of the night, as the Ely Cycling Club riders took on the popular Little Downham and Coveney circuit last Tuesday.

On the July 25 meeting timekeepers were kept on their toes by some close finishing times from the 20 riders who turned out.

A typically fast finish from Alan Newark at 23:17 kept Geoff Brewster off the top spot by one minute, with Andy Clarke and Steve Presland fighting to the end on the 10-mile course.

The next event will be on Tuesday, the 10 Mile Cox Cup event. Riders should meet at the Witchford Pavilion, Bedwell Hey Lane 15 minutes before the official start time of 6.45pm. For more details telephone Marc Cox on 01223 263862.
