Danny Gibbs was on target but Ely City Reserves lost 2-1 at Royston Town A in Kershaw Senior A on Saturday.

It was also a disappointing day for Soham Town Rangers Reserves, who lost 2-0 at Somersham Town.

After the game, manager Wayne Lockwood tweeted: “Football can disappoint you. Today we played some great stuff first half then two mistakes. We need to punish teams.”

Josep De Pfeiffer made it 12 goals in five games with a hat-trick, with Carl Saxby also hitting a hat-trick. Aaron Carman completed the scoring.
