HOCKEY coach Pete Jones was named coach/manager of the year at the 2012 Ely Standard Sports Awards.
The youth section of Ely City Hockey Club has seen a sharp increase in participation, thanks to Pete’s hard work.
Judges said: “The time and effort Pete has put in has made a real difference any one that can get the will to do well and get the children to enjoy what they do is a special person.
“It takes a lot of time and effort to do this especially dealing with such a wide range of ages and also to make it a success.”
Alex Bettison, general manager of Sainsbury’s Ely, presented Pete his award.
FINALISTS:
Alan Alsop - The Ely City FC manager works tirelessly nearly every evening on the phone to either players or teams always sorting something out. He always puts in 110%.
Richard Armer - Ely Tigers coach Richard is a fantastic coach who has developed a strong team who have a strong supportive attitude towards each other and feel very honoured to represent Ely.
