A SUPERLATIVE batting performance from Ely II saw them register a comprehensive 135 run victory over Sutton II.
Sent in to bat first, Ely flourished at the crease and knocks of 61 from J Sivier and 83 not out from E Aniskowicz helped the home side reach a staggering 267-4 at the close, a muscular run-rate of 6.7. Sutton's S Tinney registered 2-61 to take the bowling plaudits.
Sutton have struggled for consistency with the bat this season and, despite a solid start from the top order on this occasion, they proved unable to find the sort of form that allowed Ely to score liberally.
S Tinney's 35 capped a fine day for the all-rounder but he was unable to find a long-term partner at the crease and wickets from J Martin (2-13) and C Aniskowicz (2-12) helped complete a fine victory for Ely.
