THE City of Ely got back to winning ways with a three wickets triumph over Royston at the weekend.
Ely's efforts with the ball were led largely by Chris Reay whose irresistible 10 over spell and stand-out figures of 5-43, stunted Royston's brisk scoring rate and kept them down to 177 all out after a decent 40 overs.
Ely's normally reliable opening pair of Bruce King and Andy Buck, failed to fire in Ely's response but number three Andrew Foster, picked up the shattered pieces of a broken opening pair and his knock of 53 kept Ely in the match.
Lower order knocks from Oliver Swann-Taylor (22) and Mike Sellers (22) completed the job for the home side as they sealed a hard fought victory.
