Members of Ely and District Table Tennis Club are celebrating having been awarded £9,600 from Sports England to develop sport in Ely – as well as being given a new base at Witchford VC Sports Hall.
Simon Braschi, club chairman, said: “It’s a brilliant sport and we welcome anyone to join us regardless of your skill level, come and get involved.
“We’d love to welcome new members, old and young, male or female.”
The club currently runs five teams in the Ely and District league and one in the Cambridge league.
You don’t have to be a professional to join. The club members also provide coaching and training for beginners to the sport.
The Mayor of Ely, Councillor Richard Hobbs, also joined in the fun last night (Monday October 30) by having some games with the club.
