Tennis prodigy Imogen Magner has picked a tennis club in Ely as the base for the next stage of her training after returning to the UK.
Imogen, 17, has returned to the country after five years of training at the Elite Tennis Academy in Spain, where she played on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) tour.
The 17-year-old has also been asked to compete for Cambridgeshire County tennis team, and her family said that choosing Ely 10is Academy, which is run by coach Sebastien Scaux, as her next training base was an easy decision.
Her mother, Adrienne, said: “We found the members of the club to be friendly and welcoming and Imogen is looking forward to joining in some social sessions - weather permitting.
“Sebastien’s first lesson was so good that we decided to look no further. The lessons continue to impress and the coaching is as good, if not better, than any we have received in Spain.
“Although the club is small, it more that makes up for it with the warmth of the welcome and the quality of the coaching.”
Imogen will soon be doing her coaching Level One with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and will be on court coaching some of the children at the academy.
Meanwhile, plans to create a tennis club in Witchford advanced following positive talks between 10is Academy, Witchford College and the LTA.
With the support of Witchford School Sports Partnership, 10is Academy has been delivered to classes for children and adults since May 2015, and coach Sebastien Scaux was delighted in the club’s progress.
He said: “The classes have been successful and it would be great to keep the momentum going. The creation of a club would be an achievement made possible by the partnership between Witchford Village College and 10is Academy. These are exciting times.”
