AN unprecedented display in the field from Sutton saw them secure a narrow 29 run victory over St Ives.

Put into bat first, Sutton started strongly with opening pair Michael Grady (31) and Lloyd Brown (53), patiently building their way to a fine opening stand of 59 for the first wicket.

Brown in particular, impressed as he batted with a Gower-like languidness that afforded him eight boundaries in his 53.

Once the opening pair were removed Sutton struggled somewhat but accrued enough runs to move them onto 131 all out, albeit playing with just 10 men.

Though their batting had left spectators wanting, there was no question about the veracity of their bowling and fielding as Glen Campbell's express pace saw him collect 3-33 to prune any green shoots in the visiting line-up.

Though at times they threatened a comeback, St Ives found it tough going against the incessant pressure of the Sutton fielders and some nimble work from both Chris Greaves and Shane Tinney saw two key batsmen run out.
