There was just one run in it in the battle of East Cambridgeshire as Littleport Town and Wilburton went head-to-head in the CCA Junior Division One North last weekend.

The two sides have experienced contrasting campaigns so far, with Wilburton fourth in the league standings and Littleport rock bottom, but there was little between them as Wilburton edged their rivals by one run.

Littleport gave themselves a fighting chance of grabbing a vital win by skittling Wilburton out for 199 – including a stunning catch from Scott Connor (pictured) – but fell agonisingly short (198-9) after their 40 overs.

Elsewhere, Burwell stay in the bottom three of the East Anglian Premier Cricket League after a four-wicket defeat to Copdock and Old Ipswichian.

Jamie Seabrook’s 47 helped the East Cambs side to 236-9, but Burwell failed with the ball, with 2-61 from Josh Arksey the highlight as the Suffolk side reached 238-6.

Burwell’s second side had something to cheer about, however, thanks to a four-run success over Wisbech Town in the Tucker Gardner Division One.

Manish Burman top scored with 72 after Wisbech were dismissed for 175.

In the division below, a century from Andy Larkin (136) enabled Ufford Park to score a massive 311 for four in their 40 overs on a good pitch at Fordham.

Fordham responded well with Tom Williams making 55 and partnerships of 49 between Matt Foulds (26) and Williams and another for the ninth wicket between Mike Spreadborough (24) and Jason Harding (23*), with skipper George Darling weighing in with 21, but the hosts finally fell for 209, 102 runs shy of their target.

City of Ely were also on the losing side in the CCA Senior Division One North, after they went down to a heavy eight-wicket defeat to Longstanton Grasshoppers.

Owen Buxton top scored with a meagre 25 as his men were sent packing for just 95, and Longstanton lost just two wickets in their chase of Ely’s total.

Fordham 2nds went down by five wickets at Cambourne at the CCA Senior Division Three North.

Fordham’s Chris Rule fell agonisingly three short of his century (97) in a fine partnership with Jordan Theobald, who made 53, but Fordham’s runs dried up in the final 10 overs and they recorded 228-8.

Cambourne reached their target in the penultimate over for the loss of five wickets, with Harry Harvey taking three wickets.

Sutton continued their chase of league-toppers Cherry Hinton in the CCA Junior Division One North with a solid three-wicket triumph over Cambridge Granta 3rds thanks to some masterful batting from Cornelio Du Plessis.

James Nuttall took six wickets for 49 as the Cambridge side were bowled out for 260, before Du Plessis’ 91 and 75 from Mike Vincent fired Sutton to a fine victory.

Little Downham were beaten by Terrington St Clement in the division below, and Witcham edged Fulbourne Institute by four runs in a low-scoring affair.

Jamie Lawrence was one of few players to notch double figures with 20 as Witcham were dismissed for 74, but Fulbourne could only muster up 70 runs in return.

Finally, Sutton 2nds ended a weekend of success for the club with victory over Coton 2nds in the CCA Junior Division Five North.

Craig Faux fell one short of a half-century as Sutton reached 141-8, before impressive figures of 4-21 from Steve Northrop helped dismiss their opponents for just 78.
