Sutton Rangers 0 Witchford Colts (B) 3

AFTER a slow start, Witchford got into their stride and opened the scoring through Oliver Short midway through the half, a crisp strike from the edge of the box.

Sutton's goalkeeper made some great saves to deny Witchford after the break, but Solomon Grover eventually scored with two long range efforts for a 3-0 win.

Captain George Thoday led his side with a great performance in the back four, and was awarded man-of-the-match.

Over Sports 2 Isleham United 4

ISLEHAM travelled to Over and recorded their fifth win of the season.

They conceded a goal in the opening minute, but quickly started to dominate and were soon back on terms courtesy of Sean Ward's fine header.

James Sykes then put the visitors in front with a great finish, only for Over to make it 2-2 just before half-time.

Ward restored Isleham's lead with a swift break, whilst at the other end goalkeeper Jamie Eavis thwarted Over's attempts to retrieve the deficit.

Ward subsequently completed his hat-trick was an eighth goal of the campaign, but there were good performances too from Hanif Osman who worked hard at the back, and Ross Grant-Royall who was impressive in midfield.

Kieran Fitchett and Thomas Griffin came close to adding their names to the scoresheet.

St Ives Rangers 1 Ely Crusaders 5

FOUR goals in six minutes either side of the interval saw Ely cruise to another impressive league victory.

Defences were on top in the opening half, although Crusaders always looked the likelier team.

Alec Hewitt, Charlie Root and Luke Brown all threatened before the visitors finally made the breakthrough.

Luke Brown finished off a flowing move involving Root and Dominic Hunt to make it 1-0, and he then scored with a spectacular overhead kick for Ely's second.

Hunt side-stepped a defender to make it 3-0 as the second half got underway, and he then struck again immediately afterwards with a shot across the goalkeeper.

St Ives pulled one back midway through the second half, but Brown completed his hat-trick to add to the five goals he scored in last week's 6-2 cup win.

Conor Logan's late effort was ruled out for offside, and there were impressive performances from Mitchell Morse, Teejay O'Keefe, Fraser Crossman and Jamie Simper, whilst Athi Ambi produced his best performance of the season in defence.

Witchford 6 Eversden Gunners 5

WITCHFORD progressed to the next round of the cup against an impressive Eversden team. Witchford struggled with the pace of the game and Eversden soon took the lead. Two superb volleyed goals from James Forber and Sam Green were cancelled out by Eversden before half time to leave the teams level.

Forber put Witchford ahead in the second half but Eversden fought back well with two goals to put the home team ahead 4-3 and things looked bleak for Witchford. However, to their credit heads did not drop and the hattrick goal from Forber two minutes from time kept Witchford in the game and into extra time.

Witchford at last took control of the game and two further goals from man of the match Forber put them ahead. A late goal for Eversden added some further tension before Witchford secured their first win of the season..

Ely City 6 NST Strikers 2

ELY only had 11 players available, but were still able to claim their fifth win of the season.

Craig Emson opened the scoring early on, and Tom Stead restored Ely's lead after NST had equalised.

Ryan Ellwood then made it 3-1 and Stead struck his second goal of the game just before half-time.

Strikers replied again after the break, but Frazer Jennings grabbed City's fifth goal and Stead completed his hat-trick to wrap up the points.

Jamie Smith was Ely's man-of-the-match.
