Ely and District Cycling Club B&T Motor Repairs club members handed over a cheque for £1,200 to the East Anglian Air Ambulance before their winter turbo session.

Steve Wells and Derek Ricketts presented the cheque to EAAA’s Christopher Donaldson on Tuesday evening, following the fund-raising success of the club’s annual ‘Sportive’ ride.

Held in October, the Sportive saw 109 club members cycle over two routes - 58 miles and 106 miles - taking in the country roads of Suffolk and Norfolk.

The £1,200 raised will help pay for six hours of fuel for the region’s air ambulances, and Mr Donaldson also revealed that he is to return to the club in October next year to ride next year’s event.

The club would also like to thank sponsors Victoire Press, Revel Outdoors and The Udder Room at Barrow for their support.
