NIALL Inman and Craig Hammond both struck twice as Mildenhall recovered from an early slip-up to go five points clear on Saturday.

The hosts started slowly and gifted their mid-table opponents the lead in the 11th minute.

Mildenhall quickly started to dominate the physical battle in the heavy rain and pulled level 10 minutes before the break when Inman turned in Hammond's cross. A brace from Hammond in the second half then gave the hosts a comfortable lead, firstly finishing well after receiving the ball from an Andy Eady header, before latching on to Neal Docking's flick-on to power home.

After dominating the second half Inman sealed the win by finishing from a corner.

Mildenhall boss Trevor Munns said: "Apart from the first 15 minutes we played very well and 4-1 is a fair reflection of the game. If anything we could have had more goals, we should have had two, maybe three penalties."

- Mildenhall play Leiston at home on Saturday and Wisbech away the following Tuesday in the Cambs Invitation Cup.
