THE City of Ely Swimming Club has issued an open invitation for new members to join the thriving club.

The club is particularly in need of boys aged between 13 and 15 years old to join the competitive swimming team, which takes part in galas on a regular basis around the region.

Club chairman Paul Hill said: "Our swimmers have had a very successful season, with many individual swimmers achieving consistently improved times in all strokes.

"However, we have noticed that in big competitions we do need more swimmers in certain age groups.

"Some of our swimmers are regularly expected to compete in eight or more events, which significantly reduces their chances of success as they become over-tired."

"Just one more swimmer in each age group could make all the difference."

Ely Swimming Club trains at the Paradise Pool on Mondays (7.30pm to 9pm), Wednesdays (7pm to 9pm), Thursdays (7pm to 8pm) and Sunday mornings (8am to 10am).
