THE final time trial of Ely and District Cycling Club’s summer season was held on the Witcham circuit at the weekend.

The challenging two-lap four-mile circuit saw Lee Desborough, riding a conventional road bike, win the event in a time of 19mins 5secs. Regular Ely rider Colin Whitechurch pipped Geoff Brewster into fifth place with a time of 19mins 54secs, beating Brewster by just four seconds.

Chris Brown (21mins 19secs) and Jason Wason (21mins 30secs) finished the season off with respectable times whilst both Matt Eley and Laura Aldred continued to improve their performance with times of 21mins 46secs and 23mins 40secs. A big thanks goes to regular starters Roy Benstead, Brian Cooper, Martin Holland and Andy Clarke.

The club meets on Sundays for the weekly club ride starting from the Paradise Centre car park at 9am. The next time trial is the Hill Climb Time Trial on Sunday, October 16 at Moulten Hill. For more information on the club visitwww.elycyclingclub.com,
