City of Ely’s Barracudas were out in force at the Newmarket and Luton Open meets at the weekend, scooping nearly 30 medals in the process.

The Barracudas came away with 27 medals at Newmarket including 11 golds, nine silvers and seven bronzes, plus a handful of personal best times.

10-year-old Daniel Kendall was top performer for the club, with the youngster taking the title of overall Top Boy with an impressive haul of five golds, four silvers and two bronze medals.

The following day, a smaller number of the Barracudas squad attended the Luton meet in the 50m Olympic size pool to gain more experience in advance of their upcoming Regional Championships taking place in May.

Competing against some very experienced swimmers, Iona Trainer and Ciara Taylor both took silver medals in their 50m Freestyle event in their respective age groups.
