SOHAM Town Rangers and Mildenhall Town have progressed to the FA Cup first qualifying round.

Ian Benjamin's Rangers side booked their place in the next round after a comfortable 3-0 win at UCL outfit Yaxley, on Saturday.

Scott Johnson's spectacular individual effort gave Rangers the lead in the 15th minute and Michael Simpson was on hand to double the visitors' lead on the half-hour.

An own goal after 68 minutes secured victory for Soham, who travel to Boston Town in the first qualifying round on September 15.

Boston ended Ely City's cup campaign with a 1-0 victory at the Unwin Ground.

A 52nd-minute penalty from Gary Bull was enough to see off City's brave challenge.

Mildenhall Town also saw off UCL opposition when they beat visitors St Ives 2-1.

The tie came to life in the second half and Ben Cranfield opened the Mildenhall account soon after the break.

The game seemed to be over when Lewis Blois' free-kick evaded everyone in the box to find the top left corner.

Saints reduced the arrears through Scott Fielding with 15 minutes remaining but Town comfortably held on to win.

Charles Libam's 69th-minute strike earned Soham a 1-0 win at home to CRC while Mildenhall enjoyed an emphatic 4-0 win at Newmarket Town.

The results put Mildenhall fifth and Soham sixth in the Ridgeons Premier League.
