Sutton dismantled Witcham by 319 runs in what must have been one of the most one-sided game’s in recent history.

Batting first, they went at almost 10 an over to post a mammoth 385-4 in 40 overs. In reply, Witcham were skittled for 66.

Despite a six wicket defeat at closest rivals Histon, Fordham II secured promotion to the Senior Division, after Cherry Hinton defeated Fen Ditton in another Division One clash.

Graham Arnold (83no) and Ian Baldwin (72) batted superbly as Fordham reached 208-4, but Histon were equally impressive with the bat and ran out victors for the loss of only four wickets. Clint Cornwell took 2-28.

East Anglian Premier league

Graham Hume’s heroics proved in vain as Burwell lost a thriller to Bury St Edmunds by two wickets.

Burwell, batting first, looked in desperate trouble at 91-6, with opener Peter Richer making 42. But Hume produced a stunning unbeaten 94 to guide them to an imposing 280-8. He received good support from Ed Fletcher (35) and Paul Redfarn (30).

With Bury St Edmunds languishing on 151-8, Burwell looked in the driving seat. But Michael Comber came in an played an astonishing innings, hitting 124 not out, while tailender Sam Cooper chipped in with 30 not out, as the ninth wicket pair put on 132 runs to get them over the line.

Josh Arksey was the pick of Burwell’s bowlers with 4-44, while Barrie Forrester-Smith took 2-25.

Tucker Gardner Division Two

Fordham lost to Sawston & Babraham, their first defeat in seven matches, but still remain in the promotion race with two games remaining.

Fordham batted first on a slow pitch with Gareth Summerskill (32) and Luke Duplooy (29) making the early runs but after being 85-3, Fordham faltered and were perhaps 40 runs short of a challenging target as they were dismissed for 121.

Jenkins took 3-24 and Baig 2-35.

Fordham contained the visitors early on and with Harry Darling taking 2-15 off seven overs. They used seven bowlers in their attempt to swing the match their way but Chris Palmer batted soundly and guided his side to a five wicket win, making 46 not out.

CCA Senior Division Two

City of Ely finish the campaign in seventh after a five wicket loss to Chippenham. They could only muster 102 all out, which left the bowlers with too much to do.

CCA Junior Division 2N

Wilburton were crowned champions after an 120 run win over Isleham.

Wilburton batted first and made 202. Isleham, in reply, were dismissed for 82.

Ryan Duffield’s five wicket haul (5-48) was not enough for Little Downham to pick up a win at Cambridge NCI II. Duffield was the star bowler as Cambridge NCI were restricted to 199-9. But Little Downham were bowled out for 72, 127 runs short of the target.

CCA Junior Division 3N

Pymoor thumped Haddenham by ten wickets. Haddenham were dismissed for 78, which was knocked off by the Pymoor openers.

CCA Junior Division 4N

Isleham II lost just two wickets in 40 overs, compiling 204-2, but Abbots Ripton knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets.

A stunning all-round display from Chris Aniskowicz salvaged a two wicket win for City of Ely II at Chippenham II.

Aniskowicz (3-15) took three of the four wickets to fall as Chippenham II made 186-4 off 40 overs.

He then struck 101 in City of Ely II’s dramatic chase. Louis Cook (16no) was the second highest scorer.

CCA Junior Division 6N

Champions Fordham III finished a great campaign with a 79 run loss at Milton.

After a three week break, they gave seven bowlers a chance with Stu Dunsmuir taking 4-47 in Milton’s 155.

Fordham III were unusually disappointing with the bat as they were bowled out for 76.
