Mildenhall Town 0

Ely Crusaders B 2

ELY emerged with a great victory from their toughest test of the season.

The first half saw Mildenhall kicking downhill with the wind at their backs, but Ely still managed some great passing football.

Stout defending from Athi Ambi and a spectacular save from Jamie Simper kept the scoreline blank at half-time.

Ely got on top in the second half and the deadlock was broken when Mitchell Morse collected the ball on the edge of the area and beat two defenders before slotting home.

Morse scored again, with a calm finish, to secure the win after a fine cross from Jamie Simper on the left.

Man of the match: Charlie Root.

Ely squad: Athi Ambi (C), Dominic Hunt, Sarah Lappin, Conor Logan, Mitchell Morse, Charlie Root, Jamie Simper, Will Stephens, Tom Walker, Ethan Weinberg.

Soham Town Colts 2 Chatteris 3

A LATE goal denied Soham a point. Soham's first attack of the match led to a goal, with Travis Isaacson crossing for Jordy Turpin to finish.

The pair then linked up again but, this time, Turpin was the provider for Isaacson to make it 2-0.

Chatteris hit back with a goal to keep their chances alive but Soham, with Sam Hewitt impressive at the back, dictated the play.

Soham's Alistair Hutchin shaved a post twice before Chatteris scored two more to take the win.

Soham man of the match: Jordy Turpin.

Ely Crusaders 6

ANOTHER fine win suggests that Ely have finally got into their stride.

Rowan Shergold fired Crusaders into an early lead after a good run and this was quickly followed by a Scott Callaghan tap-in.

Callaghan scored his second shortly after the re-start, following some fine pass-and-move football, and Ely's fourth goal came from a stunning Thomas Walker volley from the edge of the area.

Ely were given a scare when goalkeeper Joe Steggles palmed a blistering shot on to the crossbar and, after a huge goalmouth scramble, the ball somehow managed to stay out.

Crusaders quickly countered and, after sprinting half the length of the pitch, Callaghan completed his hat-trick.

Steggles saved a penalty late in the game, before Shergold finished the rout with his second goal.

Ely Crusaders squad: Oscar Haines, Ryan Marston, Tom Matcham, Harry Beeton, Tyler Thurston, Scott Callaghan, Thomas Walker, Tom Biscoe, James Callow, Jake Day, Sam Dix, Alex Germeney, Luke Hall, Lewis Jones, Rowan Shergold, Joe Steggles.

Witchford Colts 0 Littleport Town 3

'PORT took all the points from this hard-fought derby.

Witchford started well but couldn't break down the stubborn Littleport defence.

As the visitors' confidence grew, the chances came thick and fast, and the first goal came before the break when Nico Bishop forced a good save before Joseph Murfitt followed in to tap home.

Littleport dominated the second half and Murfitt grabbed his second after a good throughball from Josh Tollett.

The final goal came from a deflected shot by Liam Ball.

Littleport squad: Sam Barker, Charlie Bowditch (C), Ben Jewitt, Jake Kennedy, Kiaran Phillips, Luke Thompson, Ben Hawkins, Ashton Oakes, Arron Heaps, Nico Bishop, Joseph Murfitt, Jake Browning, Josh Tollett, Liam Ball, Jed Oak-Leigh.

Isleham 2 Milton 3

THE Isleham players were clapped off the field by the visiting supporters as their heavily depleted team brought out the best in unbeaten Milton.

Despite starting the match with just nine fit players, Isleham took the lead with a great finish from Aaron Cawley.

Alistair Staward was having a fine game at the heart of the Isleham defence but Milton equalised before the break after a period of pressure.

Isleham were reduced to eight players for the second half, after suffering further injury woes, but they came out fighting.

Milton stormed into a 3-1 lead but Isleham refused to let their heads drop and William Ellis struck into the bottom left corner gave them a deserved second goal.

Godmanchester 2

Soham Town Colts 4

SOHAM were made to work hard for a victory they expected to be a formality.

After dominating possession, Soham scored through James Prewett.

Godmanchester equalised from a corner but Soham re-established their lead before the break when Dominic Smith scored from long-range.

Royston Eagles 1

FOR the third week running, Elliot Drewery laid claim to the man of the match award with a stunning striker's display, netting all five goals in a convincing Town performance.

The Royston goalkeeper produced some brilliant saves to keep it at 0-0 at the break, but there was little he could do as Drewery stole the show in the second half.

His first goal came from a header following a corner and he toe-poked in his second shortly afterwards.

Royston pulled one back after a short period of pressure but, from Ruben Carvalho's pass, Drewery restored Town's two-goal lead.

Drewery then added two more well-placed finishes to ensure Soham's comfortable passage into the quarter-finals.

Ely City 3 Ely Crusaders 3

(Crusaders win 2-1 on pens)

YOU will rarely see a more pulsating cup tie that this as two Ely teams went head-to-head.

Crusaders took an early lead with a close-range shot and, in a disjointed first half, City had the majority of possession but lacked any real penetration.

The game looked more like a classic derby match in the second half and, after Crusaders doubled their lead, City quickly hit back with a Dan Beavis penalty.

City were then caught out as they piled on the pressure and left themselves exposed at the back, and Crusaders broke at pace to make the score 3-1.

Things were looking desperate for City but they were handed a lifeline in the 81st minute when Dan Beavis slid in a penalty after a handball.

Then, in stoppage time, Jordan Miller unleashed a beautifully flighted free-kick from 30 yards to force extra-time.

City dominated but were let off when Crusaders hit a post on the break, but with neither side getting the breakthrough it came to penalties.

Matt Waites was successful for City but Crusaders converted twice to mass celebrations.

Wilburton 2 Ely Crusaders 4

A DETERMINED second-half performance gave Crusaders a fine derby win.

Wilburton took the lead against the run of play, but Ely hit back through Martin Collier.

Ely came out fired up for the second period and took the lead after three minutes when a good ball over the top found Stephen Nangle to run in and score.

Matteus Kupka extended Ely's lead 10 minutes later, before Adam Keeble scored a good header from a well-taken corner to make it 4-1.

Wilburton refused to give in and scored a second five minutes from time.

Pye Cup

Littleport Town 2 Histon Hornets 1

LITTLEPORT condemned Histon to their first defeat of the season in this entertaining cup tie.

Dan Bell showed great composure to give the home side the lead after latching on to an excellent through ball and, after the Littleport defence withstood some Histon pressure, Sean Monigatti made it 2-0, displaying quick control and a neat finish after a dangerous cross.

Histon pulled back a goal before the break when a forward bundled the ball over the line after a cross from the right.

The end-to-end football continued in the second half and chances were plentiful but the home side made it through to the next round.

Littleport squad: Rob Wilson, Adam Reckless, Lee Fuller, John Kelly, Matt Fuller, Sam Males, Luke Williams, John Bartlett, James Elliot, Dan Bell, Sean Monigatti, Tom Evans, Nick Seaman, Ryan Middleton.
