Ely Crusaders 22

Walpole Warriors 0

ELY overwhelmed an under strength Walpole Warriors with an outstanding display.

With Warriors only able to field seven players Crusaders started with a one man advantage and they made the most of this as they moved three ahead within the first five minutes. However, the Ely management reduced the teams to equal numbers this didn't stop the home team dominating play as they pushed forward to increase their lead and by half-time a goal a piece for George Leech, Lewis Hook, Sam Felton and Anthony Riches combined with two each from Jake Butler and Edward Frodsham plus an own goal gave Ely a 9-0 lead.

Crusaders continued to play some good passing football in the second half and doubles for Thomas Funnell and James Barrett with strikes from Leeches and Jay Spittles moving Ely into an unassailable lead. Lewis Hook stole the show late on though, as he scored six second half goals, for a match total of seven. A second Warriors own goal completed the rout.

Hemingford Colts 3

Isleham United 3

UNITED gained a well deserved point in last Sunday's entertaining match with the result of the game hanging in the balance right to the end.

Isleham got into their stride quickly with lots of possession and efforts on goal. Hemingford were lively, but Isleham's back line of Tom Griffin, Ethan Coulson, Liam Markwell and Connor Smacchi stood firm. Jonno Threadgold came close from long range before Sean Ward hammered home to break the deadlock. Hemingford hit back making it 1-1 at the break.

After the interval a great ball from Ross Grant-Royall fell to Callum Wilkinson who was on target to put Isleham ahead. Hemingford again answered back and then added another making it 3-2. Play was fast and furious and the excitement mounted as Sean Ward fired the ball into the net to level the score.

Witchford Colts 7

Thurlow 1

COLTS pulled ahead in the opening moments when Tommy Corlito lobbed the goalkeeper.

Within a few minutes, Corlito and David Mayle bagged two further goals which were almost identical to one another. Corlito putting in the corner kick for Mayle to jump up to meet and head into the back of the net. Saberton then took a free kick and planted the ball, followed by his second goal and Witchford's fifth. Incredibly the Corlito / Mayle partnership then produced the sixth goal, again a Mayle head on a Corlito cross.

The second half was a more sedate affair but Witchford wrapped up the win when Corlito struck from range.

Soham Town Youth 2

SOHAM were unlucky to end up runners-up in a close, end to end encounter between the two heavy weight teams in the U17 category.

The game couldn't have started any better for Soham who found themselves 1-0 up within minutes of the kick-off, James Seymour tapping in a Sam Goodge cross.

Hemingford were completely shell shocked and Soham went on to create a number of chances in the ensuing minutes though they were unable to find a second breakthrough.

A goal against the run of play midway through the half sparked Hemingford into life and they soon took the lead as Soham were rocked.

The second period began with Soham coming out to attack but Hemingford defending stubbornly and the Soham keeper was called into action to make several good saves. Twenty minutes into the second half and Hemingford increased their lead leaving Soham with a mountain to climb.

Though a late goal from Josh Nunn provided Town with hope of a way back into the game, it wasn't to be as Colts closed out the game.
