A tight finish saw Colne crowned winners of the Ross Peers Carpet Bowls Summer League last Wednesday night.
In a nip-and-tuck finish, the team from Colne succeeded in winning the league again this year, but with only a nine-shot difference, as they were tied on points with the runner-up team, from Soham, Matthew’s Squad.
The victorious Colne team are Keith Hudson, Brian Shallis, Chris Wright, Mick Palmer, and John Hines. They receieved their trophies from Claire Norton, of Soham’s Ross Peers Sports Centre.
The runners-up, Matthew’s Squad, featured Mel Collen, Gary Blunsten, Kelly Blunsten, Brian Monaghan and Matthew Blunsten.
Anyone who would like to try out carpet bowls or any existing players are welcome to come to the carpet bowls drives that will be held on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm, from August 20 until September 10, at the Ross Peers.
