"I TOOK over as captain of the ladies' team this year and it is fair to say I had big boots to fill after Pamela Clarke had done such a great job over the last five years.
Last season was a really exciting one for us after our victory in the league cup against Newmarket and a strong league campaign which saw us finish third in the Cambs Ladies' Premier Division.
Our third place finish meant we narrowly missed out on promotion last year and so at the start of the season we were determined to go one better. We set out or plan for the year ahead and our targets were simple; we wanted to retain our cup title and win the league.
So far I couldn't have asked for anymore from the team and we are currently on course to achieve both of our targets which would be amazing for the team and the club. Our new coach Dave Carford is doing an excellent job developing our skills and hopefully he can keep pushing us all the way.
The high point of the season so far has to be securing our place in the cup final for the second year running, but I hope we can make two or three more new highpoints as the season starts to move towards the business end.
It is pretty easy to pick out a low point because it came with our only loss this season way back in October. We lost out 3-2 away at Peterborough and as our only defeat so far it does tend to stick in the mind.
Peterborough are coming to our home ground soon though, and we are keen to even the score in what will be a very important game for us.
We are always happy to encourage new players to come and join us at our training sessions and if any ladies would like to come along we train on Tuesdays from 8.00pm on the EOSA Astroturf.
