The finals of the Kirkland Cup cricket tournament are drawing to a close after Chatteris defeated Sutton on Monday night (11) in an “outstanding” semi final.

They will now play cup holders Wilburton who have won the accolade for the last two years.

The match will be played at Chatteris on Monday 18 at 6.15pm.

John Gothard, secretary of the competition, said: “The Kirkland Cup tournament has been running since 1938 involving villages in the Ely area.

“It’s heartening to keep this historic tradition going. The semi final was outstanding and we expect the same from the final.”
