Golf On Par Ely was the host for the inaugural event of Cambridgeshire’s Junior Girls Golf Tour.

The afternoon started with an hour’s coaching with James Martin before the youngsters went on to the challenging course for a nine-hole stableford competition.

The competitions were keenly contested with Eleanor Gamble (Ely City) taking the top honour in the 29-43 handicap section with 25 points on countback from Ely City’s Natasha Bamford.

In the second group, for players with a 44-54 handicap, Jordanne Sillitoe ran out as the winner with 21 points.

This is a new competition for the junior girls, being funded by grant aid from England Golf. Further competitions in the tour are planned for Heydon Grange, Cambridge Lakes and the Huntingdonshire courses throughout the season, with a Grand Final scheduled for Girton Golf Club in October.
