Karting A battling performance from Ely racer Bryony King saw her earn a podium finish at round five of the PFI Karting Championships in Lincolnshire.

Bryony, 15, raced in the junior X30 class against more than 20 of the region’s top young kart racers.

After a successful test day on Saturday, Ely College student King carried her good form in Sunday’s heats finishing second and fifth in her first two races.

She started her final heat in 19th but was knocked off the track on the first corner, putting her down to 22nd. But, crucially, she fought her way back up to fifth and secured a third place grid position for the final.

A tough battle with the top four racers ensured in the final but Bryony opened up a small gap on the last lap to take second place.
