Fordham won by eight wickets

FORDHAM recorded an emphatic victory at Yaxley in their penultimate match of the season.

It was the Harding brothers who were the destroyers in chief as Yaxley were bowled out for 110 with eight overs of their innings still remaining. Jason Harding took 4-36 and brother Gavin 3-9.

Gavin Harding (54 not out) then batted and, together with Chris Rule (20 not out), led Fordham to their target for the loss of only two wickets.

Fordham play their final game on Saturday when they entertain Bluntisham.

CCA Junior League Division One North

Fordham II v Burwell II

Burwell won by 47 runs

THIS crucial game ended in one side's promotion and another's relegation.

Burwell's victory secured promotion to the Senior League but Fordham suffered the drop and will play in Division Two next season.

Andy Brown (87) was the chief run maker in Burwell's 197-8 and there were useful contributions from Kevin Smith (38) and Tom Murray (29). Barry Houghton took 3-45, followed by Phil Dean (2-38) and Grant Pearson (2-43).

Fordham recovered well from the loss of early wickets but despite the efforts of Reece Theobald (34), Steven Morley (34) and Nev Bussingham (20) Fordham fell short on 150-8 at the close.

Matt Driver took 2-28, VJ Sakviel 2-25 and Andy Brown 1-35.

CCA League Division One North

Littleport v Somersham

Somersham won by eight wickets

A SERIOUS knee injury sustained by a Somersham player held up play for more than two hours before the reduced-over game resumed.

Brilliant bowling from Wilson (5-14) put promotion-chasing Somersham into the driving seat.

South (22) and Foster (21) top-scored in Littleport's total of 82-9.

Wilson then scored 41 not out with the bat to push Somersham to victory with eight wickets standing.

Littleport Cricket Club wish the injured player a speedy recovery and would like to thank all those who helped with the incident on Saturday, particularly David Murfitt and Simon Wicker.

CCA Junior League Division Two North A

Sutton I v Witcham I

Sutton won by four wickets

A GOOD partnership between Ray Braybrooke and Lloyd Brown guided Sutton to victory in their local derby with Witcham.

Michael Hook (25) was the top scorer as Andy Cobbin (3-26) bowled well to help dismiss Witcham 143-7.

Sutton lost three of their top four batsmen for 43 runs but Braybrooke (66 not out) and Lloyd Brown (41) crafted a partnership of 93 to help their side to 144-6.

Stuart Hare (3-40) was the pick of Witcham's bowlers while Lawrence finished with 2-2.

Pymoor v Wilburton

Pymoor won by eight wickets

DEVASTATING bowling gave Pymoor a comfortable win that puts them nine points ahead of second placed Wilburton.

Wilburton slumped to 12-4 and despite Hughes' 32 the home side were unable to cope with superb bowling from Carl Ward (3-5) and Jay Butcher (3-25).

Chasing 77-8, Wilburton knocked off the runs easily with Paul Ruskin and Lester Potter making 20 apiece.

CCA League Division Three North B

St Ives v Littleport

Littleport won by 56 runs

LITTLEPORT avoided relegation with a priceless victory over St Ives.

Steve Kimsey senior (106) dominated the innings with his debut century and pushed Littleport to a very good total of 230-8. Marsh (3-19) made major breakthroughs with the ball and claimed a run out as St Ives struggled to make runs. King's 69 not out was the highlight as Saints came up short.

Milton III v Witcham II

Milton won by four runs

MILTON clinched the league title after a narrow victory over second placed Witcham.

A fine knock from 13-year-old Tyler Phillips (49 not out) helped Witcham to 151 despite good bowling from Lester Allen (2-39) and John Coston (2-10).

The Milton reply began badly with the loss of three early wickets but Steve McHugh and James Henderson's partnership put them on 83 before McHugh's wicket fell.

Henderson continued to bat superbly and reached 70 not out before Andy Thorne hit the winning runs in the 35th over.
