WITCHAM battled their way to a three wicket win against a resilient NCI side at the weekend.
Asked to bowl first, Witcham plugged away with admirable resolve and, although they failed to dazzle, their regimented discipline with line and length restricted the visitors to 216-7 from their 40 overs.
Young Angus Pate led the way for the home side with an impressive return of 3-31 from his nine overs.
Though the home side wobbled early on with the bat, the middle-order rose to the challenge and pushed the score on at a decent pace. J Lawrence (30) and Ian Housden (71) shone in particular for Witcham, as they reached their meagre target in a little over 35 overs.
