Fordham 111 Abington 112-1

Abington won by nine wickets

AFTER two good performances last weekend, Fordham suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of league newcomers Abington.

Fordham lost Mark Silcock early on and despite some resilience from Chris Rule and Gavin Harding, the home team lost three wickets for 11 runs.

Rule did well, making 44, but only the Harding brothers and Carl Arnold reached double figures as Fordham were ousted for 111.

Fordham needed to apply early pressure but they failed to bowl consistently in the right areas and with conditions improving, Abington took control.

Apart from one or two scares when the ball was in the air, the visitors eased to victory with opening batsman Dave Hamper making 78 not out.

The second team lost at Somersham in a CCA Division One match but the third team's match against Milton was called off.

n IN THE previous weekend's match Fordham bowled out Yaxley for 74 and scored 75-1 to win by nine wickets - a complete reversal of this weekend's match score.

League newcomers Yaxley were playing at Fordham, whose bowlers shared the spoils. Clinton Cornwell took 2-19, Jason Harding 2-4 and Carl Arnold 2-23. Craig Theobald, Graham Arnold and Gavin Harding all picked up a single wicket apiece.

Fordham openers, Mark Silcock (34 not out) and Chris Rule (25) led their side to victory with a fine opening stand.
